Technology giant Apple is set to open its first developer center in Europe later this year.
The move comes at a time when relations between Apple and the European Union have been strained. Regulators have accused Apple of exercising excessive control over its platforms, forcing the company to make several changes for European users.
The new developer center will be located in Berlin, Germany, and is expected to open in late 2026.
Apple's developer centers are designed to support programmers and companies that develop apps for Apple's platforms (iOS and macOS). In these centers, developers have the opportunity to attend training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one meetings with Apple experts to help them improve and succeed in their apps.
Apple's existing developer centers are in California (Cupertino), Bengaluru, Shanghai, and Singapore. The Berlin center will be its first center in Europe.
