Haris Rauf eyes Test cricket comeback; claims 5 wickets in President's Trophy

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has expressed his desire to represent the national team in the longer format of the game once again. His five-wicket haul while representing Pakistan Television (PTV) in the opening round of the President's Trophy Grade-I signals his readiness for a return to Test cricket.
Haris Rauf claimed five wickets in the match against the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL). He stated that his participation in four-day cricket is aimed at preparing himself for Test cricket.
Played Only One Test Match
The 32-year-old Haris Rauf has played only one Test match for Pakistan so far. He took one wicket during his Test debut against England in Rawalpindi in December 2022.
However, he was unable to participate in the remaining matches of the series against England after suffering a thigh muscle injury while fielding in that same match. Haris bowled a total of 13 overs in that Test and has not returned to Pakistan's red-ball squad since.
Determination to Prepare for Test Cricket
Speaking to PTV Sports, Haris Rauf said that the primary objective of playing four-day cricket is to prepare himself for Test cricket and to serve Pakistan to the best of his ability.
The fast bowler noted that Pakistan currently needs fast bowlers and has an upcoming Test series; therefore, he intends to make every effort to keep himself available for Test cricket.
Two Test Matches Against Sri Lanka
Pakistan's next assignment is a home series against Sri Lanka, comprising matches across various formats. Two Test matches of this series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.

The first Test against Sri Lanka will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 9 to 13, while the second Test is scheduled for November 17 to 21 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Following his five-wicket haul in the President's Trophy, Haris Rauf has also expressed a desire to return to Test cricket.
