Notification of Friday, Saturday holidays of educational institutions declared fake

The truth behind a notification circulating on social media regarding the closure of educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Fridays and Saturdays has come to light. The Elementary and Secondary Education Department has clarified that the notification is fake.

The document, which went viral on social media, had sparked concern among students, parents, and teachers regarding the weekly holidays. However, the Education Department denied issuing any such new directive and declared the circulating notification to be fake.

What did the fake notification claim?

The fake document circulating on social media claimed that public and private educational institutions would remain closed every Friday and Saturday for two months to conserve fuel.

According to the document, all primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities in the province would observe a two-day weekly holiday, while academic activities would continue as usual on the remaining four days.

Academic days were also limited in June

Previously, during a petroleum crisis in June 2026, the number of academic days had been reduced. Special instructions regarding summer camps were also issued to compensate for the academic loss.

According to officials, the measures taken at that time were temporary, and the decisions would be reviewed once the situation improved.
