Pakistan suffers major loss in World Test Championship after defeat to England

Pakistan's World Test Championship campaign has suffered another setback after their defeat by England in the Edgbaston Test. 11 points were also deducted from the national team for violation of slow over rate, after which only 5 points remained in Pakistan's account.

Penalty and deduction of points to Pakistan

According to the ICC announcement, the Pakistan team has been fined 50% of the match fee for not completing 11 overs in the stipulated time.

After counting the time concessions, the national team was adjudged to have reduced 11 overs. Under ICC rules, a fine of 5 per cent of the match fee is levied for each short over, resulting in a total fine of 50 per cent for Pakistan.

The impact of the slow over rate violation was not limited to fines but Pakistan was also deducted 11 points from the World Test Championship.

Babur Azam accepted the punishment

Pakistan captain Babar Azam accepted the proposed punishment while admitting the violation of slow over rate. After this decision, there was no need for a formal hearing on the matter.

The action against Pakistan followed the charges imposed by field umpires Paul Raffel and Chris Gaffney, third umpire Alauddin Pallekar and fourth umpire Russell Warren.

Pakistan's position in the World Test Championship

After deducting 11 points, Pakistan now have only 5 points left and the national team is at the last position in the points table of the World Test Championship.
