Meta introduces cheap smart glasses

Technology company Meta has introduced a new and relatively affordable version of its popular but controversial AI smart glasses.

The new glasses are still made in partnership with Essilor Luxottica, which owns several of the world's most famous eyewear brands.

The new smart glasses are priced at $299, which is about $80 cheaper than the models made in partnership with Ray-Ban.

Interestingly, despite the lower price, they contain almost all the same advanced technology.

The current era of Meta's smart glasses began in 2021, when it introduced Ray-Ban Stories. These glasses added cameras and speakers.

Later, in 2023, these glasses were given a major upgrade, in which the cameras, speakers and other features were significantly improved.

The new model is now marketed only under Meta's own name.
