BYD's vehicle plant in Gharo in final stages of completion

BYD Mega Motor Company’s local vehicle assembly project in Pakistan has crossed a significant milestone. The new energy vehicle assembly plant to be established in Gharu near Karachi has entered the final stages of construction and, according to the company, regular operations will begin here in the second half of 2026.

Machinery and other necessary equipment are currently being installed in the plant, while their testing is also underway. According to the company, the plant will undergo complete testing and trial production of the machinery before starting mass production of vehicles.

Plant construction in less than 18 months

The plant to be established in Gharu was built in less than 18 months. According to the information provided, the construction speed is being considered one of the fastest in terms of vehicle manufacturing projects of this size in Pakistan.

Regular assembly after trial production

Along with testing of the machinery, the plant will also conduct trial production and quality review of the vehicles. The aim of this phase is to ensure that locally manufactured vehicles meet BYD’s global standards.

According to the company, after all the necessary steps are completed, BYD Mega Motor Company will formally commence the assembly and manufacturing of vehicles locally. During this period, attention will also be paid to maintaining production standards and ensuring uniformity in vehicle manufacturing.
