Petrol becomes more expensive; a significant reduction made in the price of diesel

The government has announced new prices for petroleum products, raising the price of petrol while reducing the price of high-speed diesel. The new rates will come into effect on September 28, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy, OGRA has adjusted the prices of petroleum products in accordance with the mechanism established by the federal government.
What will the new prices be?
The price of petrol has been increased by Rs 2.02 per liter, bringing the new rate to Rs 391.30 per liter.
Conversely, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs 3.59 per liter. Following this reduction, the new price for diesel has been set at Rs 408.53 per liter.

Reason for Price Changes
According to the Petroleum Division, the new prices have been determined by taking into account changes in global rates, premiums, and other costs associated with petroleum products. Under the notification, these prices will be effective for September 28, 2026.
