Software glitch in iPhone 18 Pro; Apple announces a fix

Some users of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are experiencing a software glitch, and Apple has confirmed it is working on a fix.
Complaints regarding this issue emerged shortly after sales of the new models began. According to reports, some devices freeze completely for a few seconds if an attempt to unlock the phone using Face ID fails.
During this time, the iPhone's touchscreen stops responding, and the device subsequently shuts down and restarts automatically.
Issue to be resolved in a new update
Apple states that work is underway to address this software bug, and it will be fixed in an upcoming iOS 27 software update.
The company has not yet provided details regarding the root cause of the freezing issue following a Face ID failure. However, available information suggests that not all users are affected; only a subset of iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max users have reported the problem.
Once the new update is released, the issue of the phone suddenly freezing and automatically restarting after a Face ID failure is expected to be resolved on the affected devices.
