Sindh government launches digital attendance of teachers using facial recognition in six districts

The Sindh government has taken a major decision against ghost employees in the School Education Department and announced the launch of digital attendance of teachers and non-teaching staff through facial recognition in 6 districts.

According to the government’s decision, this system will be implemented in Karachi East, Hyderabad, Umerkot, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad and Ghotki from August 17. The attendance of teaching and non-teaching staff will be recorded through a digital system.

According to officials, action will be taken against employees who are absent from duty in a phased manner. The absent employee will first be issued a show-cause notice and in case of continuous absence, a total of 3 show-cause notices will be given.

An employee who does not respond satisfactorily despite the final show-cause notice will be declared a ghost employee and dismissed from his job.

The Sindh government says that the aim of the digital attendance system is to make the attendance system in the School Education Department transparent, eliminate ghost employees and ensure the availability of staff in government educational institutions.
