Bangladesh Sports Minister Aminul Haque has ruled out the possibility of Bangladeshi player Shakib Al Hasan returning to the national team after attending an event with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Shakib Al Hasan had attended the event via telephone from New Delhi on Wednesday, where Sheikh Hasina addressed reporters. A day later, Shakib's house in Magura was attacked.
Shakib has said that if the government assures him of security, he is ready to return to Bangladesh and face the court.
On the other hand, Sports Minister Aminul Haque said that Shakib himself ruined his chance to return to the national team by sitting on stage with an 'orderly'.
He said that the government had been looking into Shakib's case with tolerance and flexibility for a long time, but after the current situation, there was no room for his return to the national team.
Shakib Al Hasan is one of Bangladesh's most prominent players and has represented Bangladesh in 5 World Cups, playing 447 international matches.
