PSL defaulters warned to pay dues early

The Pakistan Cricket Board has directed some stakeholders of the Pakistan Super League to pay their dues soon, making it clear that full payment will be required.

During the PSL Governing Council meeting held in London, board officials warned defaulters about their dues. The concerned persons informed about their financial problems and said that the war situation between Iran and the US has also affected matters and some amounts have not been recovered so far.

However, PCB officials made it clear that whatever the reasons, the dues must be paid.

The meeting also discussed in detail the window for holding PSL 12. The franchises are keen to start the league in April, while the broadcaster proposed to start the competition in January.

The broadcaster’s representative took the position that most of the year the sponsors’ budget is spent on various activities, so holding the league at the beginning of the year would be more appropriate.

On this proposal, a franchise owner said that the final dates were not fixed in the agreement, so the board’s decision regarding the dates will be followed. He said that if the dates are fixed in advance, the franchises will also be able to get adequate time for sponsorship.

The PCB has asked the franchises to submit their proposals after consultation.

The meeting also discussed the proposal to hold a separate tournament among PSL teams on the lines of the Hong Kong Sixes, however, no final decision has been taken on this matter yet.
