Abhishek Sharma breaks two different T20 records in five days

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma experienced a unique sequence of events in T20 cricket over the span of just five days: on one hand, he played an innings featuring one of the fastest centuries, while just days later, he returned to the pavilion on a golden duck.
While batting brilliantly against Afghanistan, Abhishek Sharma completed his century in just 30 balls; however, in the historic T20 International against Japan, he was dismissed on the very first ball without scoring a run.
Most Ducks in a Year
Following the golden duck against Japan, the number of times Abhishek Sharma has been dismissed for zero in the T20 format in 2026 has reached 10. This marks the highest number of ducks recorded by any player in T20 cricket within a single calendar year.
Seven of these 10 ducks occurred in T20 International matches.
Previously, Afghanistan's Rashid Khan (in 2019) and Pakistan's Shadab Khan (in 2024) had each been dismissed for zero nine times in a single calendar year.
Thus, Abhishek Sharma secured a place in the record books within just five days due to two vastly different facets of his batting: his 30-ball century against Afghanistan showcased his magnificent form, while the golden duck against Japan earned him a different—and unwanted—record.
