Pakistan's Muhammad Zubair wins Tekken 8's eSports World Cup title

Pakistan’s Muhammad Zubair defeated South Korea’s renowned player Lu Hai 5-0 in the final to win the Tekken 8 title at the Esports World Cup.

The competition, held from August 5 to 8 at the Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris, featured 32 players from around the world. Muhammad Zubair’s outstanding performance earned him the title along with a prize money of $250,000 and 1,000 club championship points.

Zubair made it to the finals by defeating his compatriot and eight-time Evo champion Arsalan Ash 5-4 in a thrilling semi-final.

Arsalan Ash later finished in fourth place after losing to Australia’s Yagami. He had won the 2026 Evo Championship in Las Vegas two months earlier to win his fourth consecutive world title.

The Sports World Cup also paid tribute to Muhammad Zubair on social media for his success. Tekken is one of the world's leading fighting games, and competitions in other popular sports were also held at the Sports World Cup.
