Five centuries scored on the first day of the second round of the President's Trophy Grade One

The opening day of the second round of the President's Trophy Grade-I was dominated by batters, with five centuries scored across various venues. MIT’s Mohammad Farooq, Atiq-ur-Rehman, and Salman Khan Jr., along with Ghani’s Sharjeel Khan and Kingsmen Academy’s Mohammad Tayyab Arif, all scored centuries to put their respective teams in strong positions.

MIT’s Massive Batting Display in Rawalpindi

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, MIT won the toss and elected to bat, amassing 476 runs for the loss of four wickets in 87.2 overs by the close of play.

Opener Mohammad Farooq played an aggressive innings, scoring a magnificent 163 off just 99 balls—an effort that included 11 fours and 14 sixes. He reached his century in 67 balls. During this knock, Farooq broke Majid Khan's record for the most sixes hit by a Pakistani batter in a first-class innings. This marked his third first-class century and his second consecutive one.

Farooq and Hasnain Nadeem got the innings off to a strong start, forging a 133-run partnership in 21.5 overs. Hasnain Nadeem was dismissed for 36 off 76 balls, an innings that featured seven fours.

Subsequently, Atiq-ur-Rehman and Salman Khan Jr. kept the Khan Research Laboratories bowlers under pressure. The pair added 217 runs for the fourth wicket. Atiq scored 142 off 137 balls (including 17 fours and two sixes), while Salman Khan Jr. remained unbeaten on 106 off 199 balls. Salman's innings included 12 fours and a six. This marks Atiq's second and Salman's fifth first-class century.

Sharjeel Khan's Blistering Century

At Islamabad's Diamond Cricket Ground, Ghani bowled out SNGPL for 152 runs in 41.5 overs. Subsequently, Ghani also performed impressively with the bat, reaching 192 for the loss of two wickets in 41 overs by the end of the day.

Ghani's fast bowlers, Shoaib Akhtar Jr. and Khurram Shahzad, claimed a combined total of nine wickets. Shoaib Akhtar Jr. took 5 wickets for 34 runs in 12.5 overs—marking his fourth first-class five-wicket haul—while Khurram Shahzad claimed 4 wickets for 42 runs; Shoaib also ran out Umair bin Yousuf for a single run.

With the bat, Sharjeel Khan completed his 15th first-class century by playing an aggressive innings of 156 runs off just 120 balls, hitting 25 fours and 5 sixes. Sharjeel shared a 186-run partnership for the second wicket with Khawaja Arham. Khawaja Arham remains unbeaten on 33 off 114 balls. Earlier, Mirza Tahir Baig had been dismissed for a golden duck. Tayyab Arif’s Maiden First-Class Century

At Peshawar’s Imran Khan Stadium, the entire Kingsmen Academy team was bowled out for 215 runs in 57.3 overs against the pace attack of OGDCL; however, captain Muhammad Tayyab Arif put up a resilient fight, scoring his maiden first-class century.

Playing only his second first-class match, Tayyab Arif batted at number three and scored 105 runs off 110 balls. His innings included 14 fours and 3 sixes. He arrived at the crease when the team's total score stood at 20 runs.

Kingsmen Academy lost 7 wickets for the addition of just 44 runs. Muhammad Suleman scored 33 off 95 balls and Salman Ali Agha scored 25 off 41 balls, but neither could convert their starts into a substantial innings.

For OGDCL, Muhammad Amir Khan claimed 5 wickets for 51 runs in 13 overs. Muhammad Hasnain took 3 wickets for 36 runs in 12.3 overs, while Niaz Khan took one wicket. This marked the fifth time Amir Khan has taken a five-wicket haul in his 28-match first-class career.

SBP Scores 278 Runs in Abbottabad

On the opening day of the match between State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Pakistan Television (PTV) at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, SBP scored 278 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 71 overs.

Opener Hasan Raza scored 75 runs off 106 balls, while captain Muhammad Ghazi Ghouri played an innings of 66 runs off 79 balls. Both batters scored half-centuries. Rameez Aziz, coming in to bat at number seven, remains unbeaten on 42 off 73 balls.

For PTV, Musa Khan and Imad Butt claimed three wickets each, while Haris Rauf took two wickets for 73 runs in 18 overs.
