Imam-ul-Haq and Muhammad Rizwan appear before NCIA, investigation into phones continues

Two of Pakistan’s leading Test cricketers, Imam-ul-Haq and former captain Mohammad Rizwan, appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency in Lahore, where they were summoned in connection with an investigation related to cybercrime.
According to sources, both the players have sought more time to appear before the NCIA and submit their written statement. It has been reported that apart from Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan, another cricketer has also been issued a notice by the investigating agency.
The investigation will examine the information obtained from the players’ mobile phones. Along with this, the issue of information leaking from the dressing room during the tour of England is also being investigated.
Sources say that the Pakistan Cricket Board has taken custody of the mobile phones of both the cricketers and handed them over to the NCIA. Now they will also be asked to unlock their phones during the investigation.
This development has come at a time when Pakistan had to face defeat in two Test matches during the tour of England. Following these results, the PCB recalled seven players, including Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan, and separated them from the team.
Other players recalled include T20 captain Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
The ongoing investigation by the NCIA is currently focusing on the alleged leak of players’ mobile data and dressing room information during the England tour.
