Google allows users to remove watermarks from NanoBana image generator

Technology company Google has made a significant change to its advanced Nano Bana image generation tool and has given users the option to remove the watermark visible on images.

The presence of a prominent watermark at the bottom right of the images produced by Nano Bana was causing displeasure for some users.

Now Google has introduced a new setting in Gemini and Flow through which users will be able to remove this prominent watermark from the images they have created. The same facility will soon be available in Google Search's AI mode.

This option will not be limited to images. According to Google, visible watermarks can also be removed from videos produced with Gemini Omni and songs created with Lyra.

However, there is an important exception to this facility. In countries where it is necessary to maintain the watermark under the law, users will not be able to remove it.

Google has clarified that despite making the prominent watermark optional, its Invisible SynthID watermark will not disappear. Similarly, C2PA metadata will also be retained, which aims to provide information about the identity and provenance of AI-generated content.

This means that even though users will not see the visible watermark on the image, Gemini will still be able to determine whether an image is AI-generated. If the image is AI-generated, Gemini will be able to identify it.
