Meta has withdrawn the controversial AI feature Muse Image

Technology company Meta has withdrawn its controversial artificial intelligence (AI)-based image creation feature, Muse Image, just days after it was launched following public criticism and privacy concerns.

The feature was introduced last week by Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, through its AI assistant Meta AI. It was the company’s first image generation model to be made available to users.

Unlike other AI image generators, Muse Image used images from public Instagram accounts as references to create new images, which users have raised serious concerns about privacy and the protection of personal information.

Following the criticism, Meta announced the withdrawal of the feature on Friday, saying that the company’s goal was to provide a useful creative tool and give users the choice of whether their public content could be used for this purpose.

The company said in its statement that the company had listened to customer feedback and felt that this feature did not meet their expectations, so it is no longer being made available.
