Samsung decides to close two AR apps

Samsung has decided to phase out its two augmented reality apps, AR Doodle and Quick Measure. According to the company, both apps will no longer be available for download from the Galaxy App Store after December 31, 2026.

Samsung has informed users of this decision through the changelogs of both apps on the Galaxy App Store. These apps are not already available or supported on some new Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

AR Doodle is primarily used to create virtual drawings using the camera. The user can use the phone's camera to create drawings in the space around them, which remain attached to faces or various objects even when moving. On phones with stylus support, a stylus can also be used for this purpose.

Quick Measure, on the other hand, uses the camera to measure. It can be used to find out the approximate size or distance of walls, large objects, and other physical objects.

The company has decided that these two apps will not be included on new devices in the future and will also be discontinued in future operating systems. This change is likely to become more apparent with the stable version of One UI 9.

However, users who already have these apps on their phones can continue to use them for now. Their use is likely to continue as long as the software on the respective device continues to support these apps.
