Babar Azam withdraws from further play due to injury in practice match

The Pakistan Cricket Board has issued an important update on the injury of national batsman Babar Azam ahead of the Test series against England.

According to the PCB, Babar Azam has withdrawn from further play due to a ball hitting his right hand during a practice match. Babar was hit on the hand by fast bowler Manny Lamzan in the 39th over, after which he was given medical attention.

After an examination by the team doctor, Babar Azam was advised to rest for the rest of the practice match as a precaution, however, he will participate in the national team’s practice session at Headingley Cricket Ground on August 17.

In the practice match, Pakistan were all out for 238 runs while the PCC Select XI scored 305 runs in the first innings. Abdullah Shafiq was Pakistan’s leading batsman with 61 runs.

The first match of the three-Test series between Pakistan and England will start at Headingley on August 19.
